I'm George Shenouda, a Financial Advisor and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor at Merrill Lynch in Princeton. Here's what has my attention right now.
Helping clients plan for the long term
At Merrill Lynch, I work with individuals and families on retirement planning, investment strategy, education funding, and asset allocation. Most of my time goes to getting to know people and figuring out what they actually need, which is usually different from what they think they need when they first walk in.
Reading and writing about focus and adaptability
Lately a lot of my reading has been books that friends and clients recommend, and I've been writing down what sticks. Recent pieces cover Brian Tracy's idea of eating the frog and tackling the hardest task first, the adaptability lesson at the heart of Miyamoto Musashi's Book of Five Rings, using time as a tool to break a big goal into yearly layers, and how comfort can quietly replace purpose if you let it.
Bringing people together
Outside of client work, I'm building American Social Hub, where I run professional and social networking events. The idea is simple: get people in a room together. I think we've lost a lot of that, and I want to help bring it back. I stay close to it through the Princeton Corridor Rotary Club, the Princeton Mercer Chamber of Commerce, and a couple of local job seekers groups.
